Employee Spotlight – Jay Dennis

“I’ve had the opportunity to work with numerous individuals and in different roles that have continued to influence me.”

Getting to Know Jay Dennis, Senior Project Engineer

How long have you been at PE Services and what does your role entail?
I’ve been at PE Services for 13 years.  Currently, I’m a senior engineer providing CAD and engineering support during construction for METRO Green Line Extension (also known as the Southwest light rail project, or SWLRT.)

What made you decide to work at PE Services over other firms?
When I was originally hired, I didn’t have much choice in where I went, due to the recession; I was fortunate enough to be hired by and work alongside Ann Johnson, who was one of my professors at the U of MN.

What is your favorite aspect of your job?
The independence.

What has been your favorite project and why?
I want to include both the Central Corridor Light Rail (CCLRT) and SWLRT projects as one (being as they are both part of the METRO Green Line Light Rail project within the Twin Cities Metro). These have been my favorite because they’ve had the most impact on my career and provided a wide breadth of experience across all parts of the Civil Engineering and construction industry spectrum.  I’ve had the opportunity to work with numerous individuals and in different roles that have continued to influence me.

I am spending time on hobbies at home.
