Getting to Know Scott Wachholz, Civil Technician

How long have you been at PE Services and what does your role entail? My 1 year anniversary is this month!! I am a Civil Technician which means I do construction site inspection, contract documentation, and material testing, depending on the project.

What made you decide to work at PE Services over other firms? It was a great opportunity to take a new step forward in my professional journey and I appreciated the investment they make in the technical development of their employees.

What is your favorite aspect of your job? The necessary collaboration of the construction site environment and working together to build something bigger.

What has been your favorite project and why? Goldline BRT – it covered so many entities within Civil Construction all in one project.

I am happiest when….My wife calls me Sunnyside (so I don’t know how to answer.)

How do you maintain a healthy work-life balance in a demanding professional environment? Never forgetting my purpose. We don’t get burned out because of what we do; we get burned out because we forget the purpose for why we do it.

What’s the best advice you have ever gotten? Find a way to get 1% better every day.

What would you tell a newcomer to PE Services? Listening and Learning is a skill. Take pride in seeking to understand the process and your professional development.
