Getting to Know Matt Jacobson, Civil Technician

How long have you been at PE Services and what does your role entail?
I have been with PE Services for five months, started at the beginning of the year

What made you decide to work at PE Services over other firms?
The people and atmosphere. There are plenty of inspection companies, but the owners, managers and co-workers at PE Services have built the company into a family-like structure that is very welcoming, effective and flexible.

What is your favorite aspect of your job?
Being heard! At many companies you could have ideas, but they fall on deaf ears. At PE Services, everyone’s input is taken into consideration before the decision is made. This gives everyone a sense of being part of the team, not just being told you are.

What has been your favorite project and why?
I am looking forward to working out at the MSP Airport this season.

I am happiest when….
I am up north surrounded with family friends and surrounded by nature.

What’s the best advice you have ever gotten?
Shut up and listen. I am a talker so that’s easier said than done, but you would be amazed what you can learn from others.

Describe your perfect vacation.
My wife and 2 boys out hiking new trails: Zion, Arches, Bryce Canyon are on our bucket list.

What would you tell a newcomer to PE Services?
Relax – you are in good company, don’t worry about asking the wrong question, just ask the question! Co-Workers will be more than willing to help out in any way possible.

If you could swap jobs with a colleague for a day, who would it be and why?
Unsure- anyone in any different role to see what they are up against every day.

What three words would your best friend use to describe you?
NO CLUE!

Bad Communication – most things can be overcome, but when you don’t even know they are coming, it’s harder to maneuver.
