Getting to Know Joleen Ketterling, Director of Administration

How long have you been at PE Services and what does your role entail?
When I first joined PE Services 4 ½ years ago, I worked as an Executive Assistant and Document Control Manager. Within 3 years, I advanced to the Director of Administration. My primary focus in this role is overseeing and managing day-to-day support activities as they relate to administration; development and implementation of policies and procedures to enhance organizational efficiency and productivity; and managing facilities and office services. In addition, I am involved with consulting projects and collaborating closely with our partners and clients to ensure efficient office management functions.

What made you decide to work at PE Services over other firms?
When I chose PE Services, it was the authentic and transparent leadership culture that interested me. PE Services is a small company but well respected in the civil engineering industry because of the high-quality work delivered. This fit well with my work ethic and I was excited to venture into a new industry.

What is your favorite aspect of your job?
I love the variety of work that I do and the relationships that I have built. PE Services invests in their employees and has a strong mentorship program that I am lucky to be a part. Mentoring has provided me with opportunities in leadership skill development and is one of my favorite things to do.

What has been your favorite project and why?
I was the project manager for the recent relocation of our business from St. Louis Park to Eagan. This project involved a lot of moving parts but ultimately relocated us to a much larger and more collaborative space.

I am happiest when…. I am taking photos in nature.

What’s the best advice you have ever gotten?
The best advice I have ever received was to believe in my abilities and skills and trust my gut instincts. This has helped me build strong relationships and thrive in a range of situations.
