Getting to Know Tiffany Zopfi, Civil Technician

Q: How long have you been with the company?

A: I have been with PE Services for a little over a year now. I celebrated my 1-year PES anniversary on 4/11/23!

Q: What does your job entail?

A: I came to PE Services with no previous background or education in this industry. I was delighted to make a change in my career and equally scared about this large of a change. I had to completely reinvent myself and trust that I was capable of going to school to get multiple certifications that are required for me to be on certain jobs. To say that I was nervous to go back to school after graduating 19 years ago is an understatement! So, for me, that would have to be my proudest accomplishment thus far.

Q: What does your job entail?

A: I was hired as an inspector with a focus on ADA Compliance. During my time here, we have mutually decided to expand my role to include inspection and materials testing.

Q: What are the toughest challenges you’ve had at work?

A: Feeling like I must know it ALL at this very moment. This is not a “fake it till you make it” industry. You have to know what you’re doing out in the field and be able to explain why. Everything will come to me with time and experience so I trust in my instincts to reach out to my support team when or if I have questions. Sometimes it is just to clarify what I am already seeing is correct or concerning. It is very helpful to have others reach out to and ask for help when needed.

Q: How have you grown professionally while on our team?

A: I’ve spent most of my time at PE Services being mentored by Eric Johnson. He’s been incredibly helpful and I’m so grateful to have had the opportunity to learn from him. As I participate on other teams and within other projects, I am excited to keep learning from others and build my experience so that I can be the best resource and add value to each project I work on.

Q: What’s your secret talent no one knows about?

A: Food is my secret weapon of choice. I know how to cook, and actually used to own a food truck which led to a brick and mortar in South Minneapolis. Everyone loves good food and when you can connect with someone on common ground it makes a good starting point to build a working relationship.
