Getting to Know Shawn Kasper, Environmental Scientist & Civil Technician

How long have you been at PE Services and what does your role entail? I have been at PE Services for 1.5 years as an environmental Scientist and Civil Technician. I do a little bit of everything as an environmental and civil inspector from MCES sewer upgrades, NPDES inspections to earthwork grading and base.

What made you decide to work at PE Services over other firms? I stumbled into PE Services and did not look at other firms but what made me want to work for PES was the companies drive to provide an enjoyable working environment and experience.

What is your favorite aspect of your job? I enjoy being out in the field and not in a chair at a desk all day.

What has been your favorite project and why? The project I am currently working on: CSAH 18 near the Arboretum. I like getting to work closely with other PE Services employees and I like the diversity of work involved for the project.

I am happiest when….I am out on the jet ski on a hot summer day.

How do you maintain a healthy work-life balance in a demanding professional environment? I maintain a healthy work-life balance by always looking at the positive side of things. Like having to work Saturdays on a hot sunny day and seeing the positive that taking the jet ski out on the lake directly after will feel wonderful.
