Getting to Know Kevin Amundson, Civil Engineering Technician

How long have you been at PE Services and what does your role entail?  
Four Years. Mostly testing and observation/recording, some in the field design changes.

What made you decide to work at PE Services over other firms? 
When I started, I didn’t know other firms existed or even the industry of construction inspection as a whole.

What is your favorite aspect of your job? 
Working outside is a huge plus to me. I also get a lot of fulfillment out of seeing the work done correctly.

What has been your favorite project and why? 
TH19 through New Prague. I grew up in New Prague so it was great seeing my hometown get a much needed upgrade.

I am happiest when…. 
I’m behind the handlebars of a snowmobile in fresh powdered snow.

Describe your perfect vacation.  
This would definitely be somewhere in Montana or Wyoming during the winter on a nomadic snowmobile trip with friends. Been a dream of mine for a while.

What would you tell a newcomer to PE Services? 
Take your time, don’t be in a hurry to complete tasks. It’s always better to complete a task correctly the first time than to have to redo it or have someone else fix it. And ask questions. The only stupid question is the one you don’t ask.

What is your biggest pet peeve? 
Going under the speed limit in the far-left lane of the freeway is the fastest way to make me frustrated.
